WEST COAST LUMBER SCHOONER

BlueJacket’s West Coast Lumber Schooner is representative of the type built during the late 19th Century at the Bendixsen Yard in Fairhaven, CA. During its lifetime, the Bendixsen yard built over 200 vessels, among which was the C.A. THAYER which has been restored as a museum ship in San Francisco. A similar vessel built at the s a m e yard, WAWONA, also served as a museum ship in Seattle during the later years of the 2 0 Century but had to be scrapped in 2009. The National Park Service plans for THAYER were a primary resource in
the development of this kit.

One of the more unique features of this kit are the laser-cut strips of timberheads. Each of the two strips contains all of the timberheads for one side of the vessel as a single unit with accurate spacing and following the sheer, thus saving the modeler hours of measuring, spacing, and cutting.
