Designed by Starling Burgess to defend the honour of the United States of America, Rainbow, winner of the 1934 America’s Cup, was skippered by Mr. Harold Vanderbilt, who had commissioned the yacht specifically to beat the strong contender Endeavour. The Rainbow was a J-class yacht built in 1930, and successful defender of the 1934 America’s Cup. It was ordered by Harold Vanderbilt and designed by William Starling Burgess. Rainbow was scrapped in 1940. A replica, Rainbow, was launched in 2012 at Holland Jachtbouw.[2] In January 2015 it was reported that she was for sale with an asking price of €10,450,000 VAT paid.

The Rainbow w/ Tools kit features plank-on-frame construction with laser cut keel, frames and deck; double planking in basswood and mahogany; metal and wooden fittings; cloth sails; wooden detailed mast; brass photoetched parts; plans and detailed instructions.  Small tool set included. This is a great kit for the novice shipwright!
