Pirate Brig – BlueJacket

Pirate Brig | Avast ye lubbers! Bluejacket’s new model of a Pirate Brig is a great modern version of a very classic kit, first produced by Boucher (Bluejacket’s predecessor company) in the 1930’s. A little over a year ago, a gentleman brought an original, 1930’s kit to us and asked us to build it for him. The result was so successful that we decided to reintroduce this kit. Our new Pirate Brig kit remains true to the original design, size and intent of our classic model, but utilizes the advances and techniques now available. There are totally redrawn plans and instructions, fittings made from lead free pewter, and many, many laser cut parts. This kit has been designed with the less experienced modeler in mind and is perfect for practicing your rigging skills. Al Ross has created a discussion group for builders and prospective builders of the Pirate Brig.

BlueJacket is one of the leading manufacturers of quality wooden ship model kits. This Maine-based company is perhaps the oldest ship model kit manufacturer, having been in continuous operation since 1905! The company focuses on American subjects. Most kits feature pre-carved solid wood hull, but many kits are laser-cut plank-on-bulkhead and some are even true plank-on-frame kits.

BlueJacket also maintains the Laughing Whale line of kits, which are predominantly small American watercraft. With the demise of Midwest boat kits, these are about the only source for these small subjects. However, you will find them to be excellent quality kits of classic subjects.

Note that BlueJacket kit instructions are provided in english only.
