Morel Secret Vessel – Master Korabel

This is a model of the first Russian military submarine. In 1721, Tsar Peter I ordered Efim Nikonov to lay a “large hull vessel” at the site of the Galerny Dvor in St. Petersburg. Morel is considered the first Russian military submarine. The wooden vessel had barrel-shaped contours of the hull about 6 meters long, was fastened with iron hoops, and had a cabin with portholes. The mover was oars. E. Nikonov re-equipped the vessel with “incendiary tubes”, and it became known as the “fire vessel”. The crew totaled 5 people.

This kit includes:

  • All hull planking and details are laser cut
  • Single-layered veneer hull planking, that is 1.5mm thick
  • Laser-marked bevel on frames
  • A special hull design that compensates the materials’ deformation
  • Detailed photo instructions and drawings, including English translations
  • A special jig for the precise bending of the planking following the hull shape
