Information

From a public order on August 20, 1869, the contract for the construction of the tram system in Dersaadet is signed on the 30th of the same month. Five months later, on February 18, 1870, the “Tramway Company of Istanbul” was founded.

In 1908, the “Tunel” line was opened, which later became part of the Tram Company consortium, and the connection with Taksim Square was enabled. The company, as well as the line, underwent various vicissitudes, including the First World War, until June 1939, when it is nationalized and transferred to the IETT that manages it to date.

In the 1960s, all tram lines in Istanbul were closed, and it will not be until December 29, 1990 when the Taksim-Tunel line is reopened as a tourist tram and a medium of Transportation in the city.

This is a beautiful 1/24-scale wooden tram kit with detailed parts in wood, cast metal, and brass. The completed model measures just under 15″ in length.
