Description

Wooden Model Ship Kit Le Tonnant – 18th Century Privateer Corvette – SM50

In the last quarter of the 18th century, privateers were generally small fast merchant vessels. Carrying a large area of sail and highly armed with small calibre guns, unlike pirate ships, these vessels flew their national flag.

Le Tonnant is a double plank on bulkhead kit. Frames and keel are pre cut from high quality plywood. Pre-shaped wooden formers assure correct hull curvature. All fittings are made of cast metal and wood. The kit comes sail cloth and flags, and two photo-etched brass sheets complete the ornamentation. An instruction book with complete parts list supplements four sheets of detailed plans. Wooden display cradle included.
