Double Plank On Bulkhead Hull Construction
HMS FALMOUTH 1752
HMS FALMOUTH – The three-masted merchant ship HMS Falmouth was launched at the port of Blackwall in 1752. Owned by the English India Company, she was the first trading vessel to be armed with 36 cannon. The Falmouth carried a crew of 180, made up of the best gunners of her time. The loyalty of the crew was guaranteed, as each seaman was allowed to trade, sell or barter five tons of goods as his own.
Euromodel has designed this kit with its characteristic attention to detail and historical accuracy. Materials are the best available, and wooden parts are laser cut to facilitate assembly. Plank-on-bulkhead construction features limewood, walnut and mahogany. Fittings are brass, cast metal and pre-finished hardwood. Kit is complete with masts and spars, silk-screened flags, cotton rigging and all the rich ornamentation of the original vessel. Eight cannon grace the deck, and 28 more are visible through the gunports of the lower decks. Flawless blue-print sized plans ensure an authentic model.
