When planking the hull of a ship model it is advisable to use a vise like tool to hold each strip of wood as it is tapered along its length. A free hand cut can be effected by the grain of the wood resulting in a twisted or irregular cut. This strip clamp is made of fiber glass injected nylon with a metal clamp that holds the unit securely to the table. The steel jaws hold each strip in perfect horizontal alignment so that it can be tapered with any sharp blade. A second use of the tool, is as a clamp to support the hull during the building of the superstructure, mast & rigging work.
