Le Tonnant - French Corsair 1750
 

Le Tonnant - This reproduction of a 1793 French corsair is everything you'd expect from Corel, and more! Frames and keel are pre-cut from high quality plywood, and pre-shaped wooden formers assure correct hull curvature. Hull planking consists of two layers of individual strips. First, you'll cover the framework with flexible limewood, and over-plank it with beautiful walnut. All fittings are pre-finished and ready to use. Dark walnut blocks, belaying pins and gun carriages provide a pleasant contrast to lighter boxwood blocks, trim, and cherry gratings. A variety of metal fittings include brass nails, chain and eyelets, cast metal cleats and anchors, plus realistically burnished metal cannon and falconets. Two photo-etched brass sheets complete the ornamentation. An instruction book with complete parts list supplements four sheets of detailed plans. Wooden display cradle is also included.
 


The paint sets for these kits are historically accurate colors that have been specially formulated for model ships. They are high quality acrylic based paints that can be thinned with water, thinner or alcohol. They clean up easily with water, making them ideal for airbrush use. Brushed or sprayed, paints dry flat with good grain structure and a smooth finish. The colors contained in each paint set are based on the colors shown in the picture of the model. 1 oz. bottles
