La Toulonnaise Top Sail Schooner 1823

La Toulonnaise - La Toulonnaise was built in Toulon, France in 1823 for action in the war against Spain. La Toulonnaise was stationed for a time at Barcelona, she sailed to Cadiz to take part in the bombardment of the port. During a complete overhaul in 1832, the poop deck superstructure was redone, internal and external gunwales, waterways and the planking of the bridges were all replaced.

Corel's La Toulonnaise kit is based on a large scale model in a French museum. Plank-on-bulkhead construction features pre-cut ribs and structural parts. Planking, deck furniture, masts and yards are made of the finest woods - African walnut, mahogany, beech, poplar and tanganyka. Deadeyes and blocks are all pre-finished hardwood. Brass, copper and cast metals are used for carronades, falconets and other hardware. Corel's newly revised plans and step-by-step instructions with numerous diagrams make this model suitable for modelers of limited experience.

The paint sets for these kits are historically accurate colors that have been specially formulated for model ships. They are high quality acrylic based paints that can be thinned with water, thinner or alcohol. They clean up easily with water, making them ideal for airbrush use. Brushed or sprayed, paints dry flat with good grain structure and a smooth finish. The colors contained in each paint set are based on the colors shown in the picture of the model. 1 oz. bottles
