Sir Thomas Lipton launched his fifth challenger, Shamrock V, some ten years after his fourth had lost. For his challenger, Lipton turned once more to Charles Nicholson, who produced a beautiful sloop. Although there were yachts that could give Shamrock a good trial in Britain, but none in the same class, Lipton took her across the Atlantic hoping to find some suitable opposition before the America's Cup series began. When the races started, Shamrock found herself pitted against Enterprise. In the best-of-seven series Enterprise won four, Shamrock failed to win a single victory. The kit includes pre-built resin hull, high quality wooden deck and planking, metal and wooden fittings, mast, cloth sails, rigging, detailed instructions and plans.
