At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th Century, it was common to see delivery vehicles driving around the streets, much like today’s modern vans, as they transported consumer goods, fabrics, milk, bread, beverages, etc. to the businesses & shops or directly to the consumer. In addition to their primary function of the delivery of merchandise, they were also commonly used for advertising purposes, where they competed with each other to display the brightest colors, paying meticulous attention to the typography and design to capture the pedestrian’s attention about the products being transported.
